The Nutrition is Too Good - Chap 42
Zhong Yi’s head was throbbing, while Rong Mian curiously stared at his face for a while, continuing to add fuel to the fire.
“Is your tail really okay?” he asked in a low voice.
They had just kissed and embraced each other. Zhong Yi wasn’t a stone, so naturally, he would have some reactions as well.
But Zhong Yi didn’t have time to worry about his own situation now. He was still a bit concerned about Rong Mian’s condition. After all, just now, this person had held him and whispered that he felt uncomfortable. Now, his eyes were also misty with tears, and his face and neck were red and unsightly.
So Zhong Yi sighed and asked him, “Don’t mind me for now. Are you still feeling uncomfortable?”
Rong Mian honestly replied, “There’s still a bit of heat, but we, male cats have this period every year. It’s just that this time seems a bit more severe.”
Zhong Yi was taken aback, and then he belatedly realized that Rong Mian’s current condition might be the so-called mating season that cats have every spring.
“But it’s probably because of kissing you,” Rong Mian said while sitting on the sink, swinging his legs. “Ever since I saw you, I couldn’t control my tail, and now…”
Zhong Yi felt that if Rong Mian continued to speak like this, he might really not be able to hold back and do something extraordinary.
He could only coax the person back to bed and let him sleep, then he would go to the guest bedroom’s bathroom to take care of himself.
Zhong Yi’s filming schedule was the day after tomorrow, and Rong Mian also had to stay in the local area to prepare for a new variety show shooting. So after this night, the two of them would be separated for a full two weeks.
Rong Mian felt sad, but he also knew that Zhong Yi’s work was important.
So he could only express his reluctance in his own way.
When Zhong Yi was packing his luggage, Rong Mian transformed back into a cat and followed Zhong Yi closely, then jumped onto the top of the wardrobe and curled up into a ball, watching Zhong Yi bustling in front of the wardrobe.
Then Rong Mian would roll around in each suitcase that Zhong Yi packed, and scratch a little with his claws, leaving his fur on Zhong Yi’s expensive overcoat, ensuring that his scent would linger on Zhong Yi’s clothes for a long time.
Finally, when Zhong Yi was ready to leave with his suitcase, Rong Mian jumped onto the entrance cabinet. He wagged his tail, meowing incessantly at Zhong Yi, and stared up at him with pleading eyes.
Zhong Yi said to him, “Be good.”
Rong Mian stared at him blankly, then lowered his head and let out a soft meow.
He felt that the more he looked at Zhong Yi, the more reluctant he became.
So finally, Rong Mian jumped down from the cabinet, took one last glance at Zhong Yi, then turned his head slowly and ran straight upstairs.
At the moment the door closed, Zhong Yi took a deep breath.
He was truly grateful that Rong Mian was currently in cat form because he felt that if Rong Mian said one more word, he might actually be tempted to postpone the shooting.
However, the title of being the brand ambassador for the Asia-Pacific region had been discussed with the team and the brand for quite some time, and the shooting schedule had been set for a while. So, even if he was reluctant, this was a joint effort of the team, and Zhong Yi naturally wouldn’t suggest delaying it.
The flight was in the afternoon, and when he landed, it was already the next morning. Without even having a chance to rest, Zhong Yi went straight into the shooting schedule.
During the busy morning schedule, Zhong Yi didn’t feel anything in particular. It was only during lunchtime that he felt a rare sense of tranquility.
But when he had some free time in the afternoon, Zhong Yi started to feel a sense of emptiness in his heart.
Rong Mian was a small animal, the kind of character that would directly express their reluctance and dependence in their face and behavior.
On the other hand, Zhong Yi was a mature human who could control his emotions. Although he wouldn’t show much emotion on his face, deep inside his heart, he was reluctant to part with his precious little cat.
Due to the intense afternoon sunlight, the resulting shots didn’t meet expectations. So, the shooting team took a break and waited for the evening sky to capture another set of photos.
Zhong Yi sat in the arranged makeup room, resting, and gradually started to feel tormented.
The feeling of longing is incredibly subtle and painful. It’s the kind of feeling where no matter what you do, your heart feels empty and restless, as if nothing is quite right.
Without a soft, black furry ball by his side, without a fuzzy head and a round little butt to cuddle, Zhong Yi felt his palms starting to itch.
There isn’t a boy holding a phone, asking which nail polish color to use, or holding a plate and eagerly asking if he can have a few more slices of bacon.
So, this time, Zhong Yi’s heart started itching uncontrollably as well.
But it’s currently the early morning in China, and Rong Mian doesn’t have the habit of checking WeChat frequently. After contemplating for a while, Zhong Yi couldn’t help himself and downloaded a fashion nail salon app.
After playing for a while, Zhong Yi became dizzy looking at the colorful images on the screen. Not to mention the countless ads popping up, which were incredibly irritating.
Zhong Yi remembered that Rong Mian seemed to have already passed over a hundred levels in this inexplicable game. He felt that the perseverance of small animals in dealing with such things was truly astonishing.
By the time it was four o’clock in the afternoon, Zhong Yi had only reached around twenty levels and had already watched ads for a full half hour.
In the end, he couldn’t resist anymore. He first checked the time in China and realized it was already past ten o’clock. So, he took a picture of the sky and buildings outside and sent it to Rong Mian via WeChat.
Rong Mian replied quickly, [What a beautiful house.]
Then he said, [I woke up.]
Without hesitation, Zhong Yi immediately made a video call.
It took a few seconds for Rong Mian to answer the call, and Zhong Yi saw the boy wearing pajamas. He first brought his face closer to the screen, then clumsily stared at the other end of the screen.
Then Zhong Yi saw Rong Mian’s eyes light up.
He softly called Zhong Yi’s name, and then proudly told Zhong Yi that he had just put all the dishes from the dishwasher back into the cabinet.
Zhong Yi praised him and then saw the screen shake for a moment. Shortly after, Rong Mian sat down on the sofa in the living room, placing a cushion on his lap. He began to share with Zhong Yi what he had done yesterday and the day before.
“Yesterday, Shi Cheng invited me to play basketball,” Rong Mian said.
“Basketball is a very fun sport. Although I’m not as tall as him, I can run much faster than him.”
“…We had instant noodles for lunch that day, and they were very spicy.”
Rong Mian frowned, “But Shi Cheng said it’s a famous Korean brand of instant noodles, and since I was a guest at his house, I ended up eating all of it.”
“I also saw Shi Cheng’s dad, and he seems to be very wealthy. He built a sports arena specifically for Shi Cheng at their home, but they don’t have a fountain.”
Rong Mian thought for a moment and said, “And his dad has acted in a historical drama that Sandou and I really like.”
Zhong Yi naturally knew about Shi Lianqing as a senior figure of that level. As for the historical drama Rong Mian mentioned, it should be one of his classic works from when he was young.
Zhong Yi paused for a moment and asked, “What about you? Is there anything else that makes you uncomfortable?”
Rong Mian looked at him and shook his head.
“I just occasionally feel a bit warm and excited, and sometimes I don’t have much of an appetite.”
Rong Mian said earnestly, “But this kind of situation is normal. It should be fine in a couple of days.”
“And also, I miss you a lot,” Rong Mian said.
Zhong Yi looked at him and after a while, said, “I miss you too.”
Rong Mian responded with a soft “humm.”
Then Rong Mian fell into an unusual silence, and Zhong Yi watched as the boy slowly lowered his head and began to daydream. At the same time, his ears and cheeks visibly turned red at a noticeable pace.
Zhong Yi couldn’t help but smile.
As if he thought of something, Rong Mian suddenly looked up and asked, “Zhong Yi, what brand of perfume do you use?”
Zhong Yi hesitated for a moment, then mentioned the name of the perfume brand, which was in English.
Afraid that Rong Mian might forget, Zhong Yi added, “There should be an unused bottle of it in the cabinet next to the restroom mirror. It’s a square bottle, yellow in color. If you want to use it, just help yourself.”
Rong Mian nodded.
“I miss you so much,” he whispered, “I slept on your clothes last night, but your scent on them is really faint.”
“So I thought of buying a bottle of the perfume you use and spraying it on the pillow and blanket,” he continued, “That way, when I cover myself at night, it feels like you’re still by my side.”
Zhong Yi felt his heart melting like warm mud.
His Adam’s apple moved up and down, struggling to find words, while Rong Mian stared at Zhong Yi’s face for a while and asked, “Zhong Yi, do you have anything else to say to me?”
Zhong Yi replied, “…No.”
But Rong Mian firmly said, “You definitely do.”
Zhong Yi stared at the boy on the opposite side of the screen for a while. After a moment, he sighed and hesitantly spoke up.
He mumbled, “…tail.”
Rong Mian didn’t hear clearly and was momentarily confused, while Zhong Yi turned his face away and took a deep breath.
He asked, “…Can you turn back into a little cat and show me your tail?”
Li Ming’er was the makeup artist in charge of this photo shoot, and it was her first time working with Zhong Yi.
The moment Li Ming’er saw Zhong Yi in person, despite having seen many celebrities before, she felt a revelation: Whether it was his height, long legs, skin condition, or his exquisitely handsome face, it seemed that Nüwa1 had indeed favored him quite a bit when shaping humans.
So when she applied makeup to him today, Li Ming’er utilized all her skills to perfection, showcasing all the talents she possessed.
Zhong Yi was indeed a very charming and mature man. His manners and conversation made people feel incredibly comfortable. He would proactively hand Li Ming’er a lip brush and napkins, generously complimenting her makeup skills.
Although Zhong Yi had come out publicly a few years ago, and Li Ming’er’s children were already in elementary school, and she loved her husband very much, if the other person was a top-tier handsome guy, then all her reactions stemmed from the depths of her DNA.
So every time Zhong Yi spoke to her, Li Ming’er couldn’t help but feel her heart skip a beat for a moment.
In about half an hour or so, the next set of shooting would commence, so Li Ming’er prepared to come in and touch up Zhong Yi’s makeup.
She had just walked to the door carrying her makeup case when she saw Zhong Yi sitting on the sofa in the dressing room, holding his phone, seemingly engaged in a video call with someone.
Perhaps he was talking to someone very close, because Zhong Yi’s tone sounded somewhat gentle.
Out of politeness, Li Ming’er didn’t walk in directly. She stood at the door with her makeup case, waiting for a while. However, at the same time, every word of their conversation also reached her ears.
“…Do you want to wear this? Or should I show you the jingle bell?”
She heard a somewhat ethereal voice of a young boy coming from Zhong Yi’s phone, “I remember I wore this police uniform for you once before, it’s a bit small. Or you want me to wear this skirt, but I don’t really like wearing skirts…”
Li Ming’er suddenly froze at the door.
“…If you don’t like it, then don’t wear anything.”
However, the next moment, Li Ming’er saw Zhong Yi holding his phone and patiently saying to the person on the other end of the call, “You look beautiful even when you’re wearing nothing.”
