GuQingPei had just inserted the key into the door-lock when the door was opened from the inside.
YuanYang creased his brows at him, “You’re just coming back now?”
“Something wrong?”
“Who did you go out to eat with?” YuanYang followed up with his question.
GuQingPei halfheartedly responded, “It’s all business related.”
GuQingPei having these social gatherings every other day is also a common occurrence. YuanYang usually wouldn’t overthink about these things but they had just gotten attacked in XX City. The shock from that time still had not disappeared so GuQingPei being out alone still made him nervous. He added, “If you need to go out in the future, wait for me to come back.”
“You have other work to do. Can’t delay matters,” GuQingPei removed his coat and asked, “What is the progress with the letter of credit?”
“Going quite smoothly. After XX bank agrees to sign the contract, it will release 20 million yuan.”
“Okay. This project on imported electronic product is our first contract after resuming the company’s primary business services. This must be profitable and not only that, it also needs to meet the conditions to be listed in the stock market within six months. This is our primary focus for next year. You must follow it closely.”
“I know.”
GuQingPei patted his head, “You’re doing well.”
YuanYang follow up with, “Then, when are you going to give me my bonus?”
GuQingPei deliberately teased him, “What bonus? The lawsuit has not been settled yet?”
“I’ve participated in the financing portion and that is almost completed now. You’re still not giving me my bonus?”
“Ahh,” GuQingPei touched his chin, “Okay, I’ll give you 20,000.”
YuanYang angrily retorted, “How can you be so cheap?”
“The person who should get the most credit for this is the financial controller. You’re just tagging along; you should be happy with what you get.”
YuanYang heavily snorted.
GuQingPei smiled, “After the contract is sign, I’ll initiate the paperwork to give you the bonus along with the year-end reward.”
YuanYang held onto his neck and muttered, “Tell you something, your car is here.”
“Oh? The one from Chairman Yuan?”
“Yeah, my dad told me to tell you and then take you to pick up the car.”
GuQingPei is very happy, “Great… this weekend then.”
YuanYang curled his lips, “So freaking happy just for a Bentley? Wait for me to make money; I can buy you an even better one.”
GuQingPei laughed loudly, “You only have some meager cash on you, yet still brag all the time. Just concentrate on doing your job well first.”
YuanYang grudgingly bit his neck, “You just wait…. okay?” YuanYang bit a few times and suddenly said with confusion, “What’s that smell on your body? It’s not your cologne.”
GuQingPei suddenly remembered WangJin. He can’t help but smile bitterly, “You have a dog’s nose? What can you smell? I come in contact with a lot of people every day. How can you smell it?”
YuanYang groaned, “I hate the smell of this cologne, don’t use this one in the future.”
GuQingPei was too lazy to respond. He changed his clothes and yawned, “Tired, going to go take a shower.”
YuanYang hugged his waist, biting his ear, “Let’s shower together.”
The next morning, GuQingPei gathered all the executives for an ad-hoc meeting. Halfway into the meeting, Zhang Xia came in and whispered in his ear that WangJin had come to the company.
GuQingPei was quite surprised and can only end the meeting quickly to meet WangJin.
Arriving at the VIP room, he saw that WangJin also brought another person.
“Wang Ge, how come you didn’t give me a call before coming?”
WangJin smiled and shook hands with GuQingPei, “I happen to pass by so just wanted to come by and take a look. QingPei, let me introduce you. This is my company’s legal counsel, Director Yang. I specially brought him here today to discuss the project with you.”
As if the awkwardness and ambiguous attitude of the night before didn’t happen, they chatted with beaming smiles.
“Oh, Director Yang, greetings,” GuQingPei turned to Zhang Xia and said, “Xiao Zhang, make me a copy of the document for the two thousand acres land project and then call Manager Zhang to come over here.”
The three people sat down and discussed the project. After a while, someone knocked on the door. GuQingPei said, “Manager Zhang, come in.” But when he turned his head, he saw that the person was not the manager of the real estate planning department but is the expressionless YuanYang.
WangJin smiled and greeted him, “Young Master Yuan, we meet again.”
YuanYang reluctantly nodded, this can be counted as a response.
“Take a sit. We can have a group chat,” WangJin pointed to the sofa next to him.
In this moment, YuanYang wanted to squeeze in between WangJin and GuQingPei but due to the circumstances, he was forced to endure.
Manager Zhang brought his laptop and demonstrated the design and planning of the land with a presentation PowerPoint and then gave a thorough explanation on the legal aspects.
What made GuQingPei quite surprised is that YuanYang is no longer like he was before, just merely sitting on the sidelines not giving a care. But instead, he participated in the discussion. His speech is even in an orderly manner, appearing to also understand the project well. Looking at him, he looked very decently competent; which was a far cry from his usual childish personality.
It seems that his long education and guidance of him (YuanYang) has finally worked, making GuQingPei feel very delighted. He thinks it’s about time to raise the salary for this little wolf dog.
At lunch time, WangJin wanted to invite GuQingPei out for lunch. If the ordeal from the previous night didn’t occur, GuQingPei would definitely be happy to go. But at this time, he decided to let WangJin cool down a bit so he declined the invitation with the excuse that his morning meeting was not yet finished and would need to be continued in the later afternoon. It would not be suitable for him to go out for lunch. He’ll just manage by eating in the canteen.
WangJin raised his eyebrows and smiled, “In this case, I’ll also try the food in the canteen with Director Gu. Do you mind?”
Director Yang smiled and waved his hand, “I am fine with anything.”
YuanYang’s face sank.
The canteen has a special private room for the executives to eat but GuQingPei usually eats in his office so he’s almost never used this room. He asked Zhang Xia to first bring WangJin and Director Yang downstairs. He still has some things to discuss with Manager Zhang.
After WangJin left, YuanYang wanted to talk to GuQingPei but GuQingPei waved his hand to stop him. He pulled Manager Zhang aside and had him further elaborate on his presentation and the discussion from earlier.
After Manager Zhang left, YuanYang grabbed onto GuQingPei’s arm, his voice piercing, “The person you met with yesterday is WangJin?”
GuQingPei didn’t disagree, “Yeah.”
YuanYang immediately erupted, “Why didn’t you tell me that you met up with him?!”
“Why must I tell you that? I have so many business matters; must I report everything to you?”
“It’s not the same with him.”
“Why is it different with him?”
“The way he looks at you is not normal.”
For a moment, GuQingPei is speechless. Is this the instinct of a beast? This brat is very perceptive in assessing people. GuQingPei continued to play stupid, “Can you stop with this nonsense? Do you know how important this project is? WangJin is currently the most suitable partner. I certainly won’t give up such good opportunity. If you dare to mess this up, I won’t let you off.”
YuanYang angrily muttered, “You have his horrible stinking smell on you!”
GuQingPei have a general understanding of YuanYang’s mode of thinking. It is similar to the idea that, “Nobody can take anything from my bowl, such that even looking is not permitted.” He, himself, is this thing in YuanYang’s bowl. Even if YuanYang can’t eat it, he won’t give it to others.
It is a pity that he (GuQingPei) is not one to allow himself to be ordered around. Also, he didn’t feel obligated to conform to YuanYang’s unreasonable possessiveness.
GuQingPei calmed a bit, “Don’t make a fuss. Doing business is not dependent upon whether you like or dislike a person to make decisions. If everyone is like you, nothing will get done. When can you be a little more mature?”
YuanYang is livid. Every time GuQingPei complained that he’s immature, he wanted to restrain himself to show that he’s even more mature. However, he could not stand seeing the expression on WangJin’s face when he looks at GuQingPei. His instinct tells him that WangJin has other ulterior motives (towards GuQingPei).
He definitely will not allow other people to lust after his things!
