Tit For Tat (Beloved Enemy) - Chap 84
Beloved Enemy Chapter 84
FEBRUARY 26, 2019 ~ ROSYSPELL
GuQingPei stayed in the room for an entire afternoon with nothing better to do.
He didn’t think of trying to escape. Seeing that he couldn’t even see any roads in a distance nor is YuanYang going to give him the car key, where can he run to?
YuanYang will certainly let him go. After all, it would be impossible to imprison him for a lifetime. With YuanYang’s personality, it’s already a common occurrence for him to impulsively cause trouble. If he (GuQingPei) was really going to be with YuanYang, just thinking that he would have to suffer from such harassment from time to time in their future is enough to make him particularly tired.
How much emotions can one take in withstanding YuanYang’s torment? Not to mention that YuanYang would cause such huge impacts to his life and career every time.
Aside from the video, the reason they could not last, most importantly is that he felt that the road ahead with YuanYang is pitch black. He is not the type of person that would depend on feelings to live.
GuQingPei was very disheartened but he had no way to alleviate it. Seeing everything in the room is enough to make him constantly irritated, wanting to angrily throw out curses.
As it so happened that YuanYang came in at this time.
The two of them hadn’t seen each other for a while. YuanYang’s mood had stabilized a bit and his hand is holding a laptop, “Help me look at a contract.”
GuQingPei looked at him coldly, “What does it have to do with me?”
“This project is for you.” YuanYang had the laptop screen facing him. This area that is to be developed is named after him.
GuQingPei furrowed his brows, “What is the significance of you doing this kind of thing?”
YuanYang walked over and put the laptop on the desk. He leaned near his ear, “I just wanted to tell you that anything that is mine is also yours… it is now and will also be in the future. What you said was right. I have nothing right now to be compared with WangJin, but there is one thing he can’t compare with me. Would he dare to tell you something like this? Even if he was to give you a share, he needed to get approval from a meeting. Not to mention, he is not even going to get a divorce. Can he put your name on his will? I could, only I could.”
GuQingPei reached out to push him away, “I don’t need these things. I work not just to make money. If it’s for money, I already have enough for me and my parents to not have to worry for life. What I work so hard for, a young master like you, born into the radiance of the Yuan family will never understand. We are from different worlds. I don’t want to explain anymore to you.”
YuanYang’s expression emerge a sense of loss. He sat next to GuQingPei and changed the topic “Help me take a look. I need your help.”
GuQingPei faintly swept his eyes on the laptop screen, “Open it.”
YuanYang opened the contract and the supplementary agreement. GuQingPei’s expression immediately focused.
He didn’t need YuanYang to explain anything to him. He once knew this project as deeply as YuanYang. Because at the time, he had already decided to invest in it. This was a project he was going to do well with YuanYang. It was going to be their collaborative business to further their development.
But in the end, all of that was squashed…completely abolished.
GuQingPei recalculated the numbers involved and reanalyzed the costs. Then he made two suggestions, mainly in terms of material expenditures. People who have not really been involved in real estate developments and construction will not know how big the budget and actual expenditures will be. To start up and build a high-rise building, even if there is a minor increase in unexpected expense for any of the segments, the final cost could be so high that many people would not be able to handle. This cooperative development contract did not take this into consideration, so overspending cost would likely cause a lot of problems in the future.
After GuQingPei and YuanYang discussed, they simply modified the contract themselves.
When GuQingPei was concentrating on the content, YuanYang looked at his side profile intently. He couldn’t control himself from reaching out to hug GuQingPei’s waist from the side, resting his chin on GuQingPei’s shoulder.
GuQingPei pause, and slowly draw out a breath.
YuanYang gasped, “I really want to….”
He didn’t have to say what he really wanted, GuQingPei could already guess it.
But he doesn’t want to.
GuQingPei quietly pushed him away, “Explain this section to me.”
YuanYang’s expression was unable to conceal his disappointment; he only felt tightness in his chest.
The two discussed for a while. Then, YuanYang’s phone rang. He got up to answer the call. It was related to work.
As YuanYang left the seat to answer the call, GuQingPei took the opportunity to quickly open his work email. He was instantly dumbfounded. WangJin and his subordinates had frantically sent him more than 20 emails. Roughly skimming through them, he could already grasp the seriousness of the matter, The bid was reported to be a leaked; the judicial department has launched an investigation. Their contract will be delayed indefinitely.
GuQingPei’s face gloomily sank.
He opened the earliest email from WangJin and carefully read it.
Someone anonymously reported the manipulation of the opening bids from X Steel Group. The employees involved in the project were bribed for leaking the starting price to three companies.
One of the companies involved in this scandal is a super large state-owned enterprise, another is a real estate group in the north, and then there is YuanLiJiang’s deep-rooted integrated investment group in Beijing. One by one, the names are loud and clear. Regardless of the truthfulness of the case, such scandals are just enough to set off a wave of public opinion storms. Not to mention the fact that bribery in bidding is a common occurrence. This is not at all surprising.
WangJin only mentioned the very surface of the matter in the email. The content may not be the same as reported by the media. However, the real issue, of course, he will not divulge in the email. WangJin asked him where he is, and why is he not turning on his phone calls or responding to emails. He needed him to quickly rush back to the company to see him.
This is the first time that WangJin had used such superior stern tone to speak to him. One can sense the seriousness of the problem.
When he was searching for news on the Internet, YuanYang had unknowingly come next to him and closed the laptop with one hand.
GuQingPei looked up at him, “You already knew? But didn’t tell me?”
YuanYang casually responded, “QingDa has nothing to do with you. I’ve already sent the contract cancellation (referring to GuQingPei’s employment tract) for you. They should receive it tomorrow. I will pay for your breach of contract. You don’t need to see WangJin anymore. WangJin is not a good thing.“
GuQingPei slammed his hands on the table and shouted, “Such big thing happened, you think I can just pat my ass and leave!? I, GuQingPei, have never done anything so irresponsible in my life, adding on that this opening bid project is my sole responsibility. If anything happened to QingDa, how can I be off the hook? I must go back to deal with this.”
“You don’t have to go anywhere. No matter what happens to QingDa, I will not let you be implicated in it. You are so smart. Why not terminate the relationship with QingDa at this moment?”
“Bullshit, there is already judicial intervention, how can I not be implicated? And plus, for me to be leaving like this, what is the company going to do? What are the people below me going to do? Things may not be so bad after all. As long as I go back, there is still hope to resolve it. If I run away at this time, what am I, GuQingPei, going to amount to?”
YuanYang narrowed his eyes and responded, “Let you go back so that you and WangJin can become even closer in times of hardship? Absolutely impossible. Furthermore, not letting you go back is for your own good. This time, believe me for once.”
GuQingPei perceptively understood his underlying meaning, “Do you know something about this?”
YuanYang did not deny. He made no comment, “Whatever happens, my first priority in consideration is you.”
GuQingPei fiercely pulled YuanYang’s collar up and grimly asked, “What do you actually know, what did you do?!”
YuanYang looked at him with wolf-like glow in his eyes, “It is just a lesson for my dad and WangJin. This is what they deserve.”
GuQingPei looked at him stiffly, “Was it you who reported it?”
YuanYang pulled onto his waist and said softly, “Don’t think about it. It doesn’t matter to you.”
GuQingPei gritted his teeth, “Do you know how much effort I’ve put into this project?”
YuanYang sneered, “If you didn’t work so hard for WangJin, I may not have been so disgusted with him. But don’t worry. Your hard work will not be wasted. What is yours is still yours. But you have to remember, all your painstaking efforts going forward should not be wasted on other people. It should only be on me.” Afterwards, he also used his cheek to rub against GuQingPei’s face, just like a spoiled child.
GuQingPei felt his entire body tremble chillingly. All of a sudden, he felt that he does not know YuanYang at all.
