Zhong Qing (Cherish) - Chap 14
Zhongyan’s huge wings were like two scimitars in the night sky. Moschery held the sleeping Qin Yun in his arms and rode silently on the dragon’s back. The guide’s body temperature was high, and the blood stains on his ten fingers were soaked into the bandages. The young emperor frowned. The young emperor furrowed his brow, tightening his cloak around the other person.
Skarter’s holographic image appeared on the communication device, and his expression was a little helpless, “Your Majesty, it has been 72 hours, and Mrs. Berlin is in your study.”
“Where’s Lin Dongliang?” Moschery asked after a moment of silence.
“He’s not in good health.” Skarter sighed, “Just fell asleep.”
Moschery glanced at his general with distrust but did not pursue the matter. He issued a series of instructions to open the training room in half an hour as he carried Qin Yun, “Call a guide doctor for me and take good care of him. “
Skarter took off his military cap and bowed slightly, saying respectfully, “As you command, Your Majesty.”
Berlin dressed strictly and almost rigidly no matter when and where. She wore black and grey skirts all year round to the point that every time Tristana saw her, she couldn’t help but wonder if Berlin had colour blindness.
She sat leisurely in Moschery’s study and sipped tea without any awe in the face of those in power. To a certain extent, she did indeed watch this emperor grow up.
“You seem to be very busy recently.” Berlin greeted with a smile. The creases on her skin did not lighten because of this smile. On the contrary, even the corners of her eyes wrinkled as she smiled, “I heard that you seem to have a favourite guide?”
“I remember Madam taught me when I was a child.” Moschery looked at her coldly as if recalling it and said, “Never believe in groundless rumours.”
Mrs. Berlin bowed gracefully, “Forgive me for the offence, Your Majesty.”
Moschery didn’t say any comment. He held the cloak that had just been wrapped around Qin Yun in his hand. The warmth and smell of his guide still remained on it. The Emperor was a little absent-minded, and he obviously didn’t want to waste too much time with this iron lady.
Berlin cleared her throat, “Next month is the graduation ceremony of Averio Academy high-level guide. I wonder if Your Majesty will have time to attend.”
“Next month, huh…” Moschery said calmly, “I have made an appointment with Duke Arthur to go hunting on G Star… You should also know that our mania always needs help from the outside world to suppress it.”
Although she was born as an ordinary person, Mrs. Berlin knew better than anyone how terrifying a sentinel’s mania was. She recalled the last attempt to provide Moschery with mental guiding, only for Paulie to be nearly overwhelmed by his god-tier psychic force rebounding against her. Her complexion wasn’t very reassuring. That was also the first time she realised Moschery wasn’t like the weak Helu of the previous generation; his god-tier genes were too powerful for any guide to control him.
“The guide who made the spiritual mark with you last time… That person can’t do it too?” Berlin asked tentatively, “Maybe we can find and nurture the person, maybe…”
Her words stopped abruptly, and Moschery’s cold eyes were like a sharp knife against her throat, forcing her to open her mouth in vain but unable to make a sound.
“It’s getting late.” After an unknown amount of time, Moschery suddenly stood up and said that. He walked behind Mrs. Berlin and personally opened the door to the study. The mask on half of his face was hidden in the shadows, obscure and unclear. “For the sake of your personal safety, it’s better to return earlier.”
Qin Yun woke up in a blur, feeling someone watching him. Subconsciously, he called out, “Xi Zhao?” only to realise that he had mistaken the person.
Lin Dongliang sat on the edge of his bed and looked at him with a gentle expression, “Are you awake?”
Of course Qin Yun knew the Secretary of State of the Empire. He subconsciously wanted to get out of bed and salute, but suddenly, he saw his hands that were bandaged like two pig’s trotters.
“…” Qin Yun blushed and said in embarrassment, “I really… I’m so sorry for my rudeness.”
Lin Dongliang laughed, “You are too polite.” He gently removed Qin Yun’s bandage and reapplied the medicine. When he was pulling the cotton with tweezers, a big furry tail suddenly appeared on his shoulder.
Qin Yun stared carefully for a while. The tail moved and then slowly exposed its two ears.
He and the beast stared at each other for a long time before Lin Dongliang suddenly reacted. He was a little embarrassed and said, “Ah… I lost a little mental power earlier, so I couldn’t control Yuanbao and let it out…”
Before he finished speaking, he saw Yuanbao shaking its big tail, running a few steps with its short legs, and jumping onto Qin Yun’s back with a strong movement.
Qin Yun didn’t even dare to move, “…”
Lin Dongliang probably didn’t expect that his spiritual link would become so bold. He was hesitating whether to go up and pick up Yuanbao or just let it stay like this when Skarter walked in.
“Hey, you’re awake.” Skarter smiled, his expression really warm and kind, but Qin Yun didn’t feel relaxed at all. He stiffly lowered his head and happened to see a huge king crocodile behind him, staring intently at the little red panda riding on his back.
Yuanbao’s big tail trembled, and it was too late when he wanted to escape back to Lin Dongliang. The long snout of the king crocodile accurately caught the red panda’s neck fur. Yuanbao flailed his four small claws but couldn’t get away. In the end, as if he could only feel discouraged, he trembled and covered his eyes.
“Okay, Zong.” Although Skarter tried to persuade him, he just lazily leaned against the wall with his arms folded, “Be gentle, don’t scare it.”
The king crocodile released its mouth and wrapped its tail around Yuanbao in a domineering manner. He lay on the ground and closed his eyes. The little red panda secretly opened its eyes and, attempting to move the crocodile’s tail, ended up pressing itself underneath instead. Its little belly turned upwards but couldn’t flip over.
“…” Qin Yun couldn’t help but ask, “Don’t you need to help them?”
Lin Dongliang covered his face, not sure whether he felt embarrassed or couldn’t bear to see it.
The king crocodile, who was pretending to be asleep, opened one of his eyelids, swept his tail, and took the red panda into his arms…
Skarter said with a smile on his face, “Don’t worry, they usually like to play like that.”
Qin Yun: “…”
Lin Dongliang reapplied the bandage on Qin Yun’s hands. Yuanbao was finally tired of ‘playing’ and slept in the arms of the king crocodile. However, he seemed to be dreaming about something, his little face bulging out and his mouth gnawing on the other’s tail.
Skarter didn’t seem to mind his spiritual link being ‘bitten’ at all. He looked at Lin Dongliang and said, “Your Majesty will be here soon, you’d better go and rest first.”
Lin Dongliang hesitated and glanced at Qin Yun.
“In terms of mental power.” Lin Dongliang asked worriedly, “Is there anything else that feels uncomfortable?”
Qin Yun shook his head quickly and stretched out his bandaged hands, “It’s just a light trauma. There’s nothing wrong with my brain.”
Lin Dongliang nodded. He bent down to pick up Yuanbao, only to find that the red panda was biting the king’s crocodile’s tail tightly and refused to let go, with a glistening circle of saliva at the corner of its mouth.
“Let Zong carry it.” Skarter gestured to the king crocodile to curl its tail around the red panda’s body. He greeted Qin Yun, “You can continue to sleep. His Majesty will be accompanying you soon.”
When Qin Yun first heard the words ‘accompany you’, his heart skipped a beat. He didn’t know whether he was blushing or not. When he turned his head, he saw Skarter carrying Lin Dongliang in a princess style as if no one else was present.
“…” Qin Yun felt a bit disheartened, thinking that compared to his own slight excitement just now, they were so much more skilled at showing affection…
After lying alone in bed, Qin Yun fell asleep again soon. Qin Yun felt as if he had had a dream in which someone carefully stroked his face.
“Xi Zhao?” Qin Yun muttered drowsily.
“I’m here.” He heard the other person reply.
Moschery got into bed and hugged him tightly, “Let’s sleep a little longer.”
Qin Yun let out a ‘Hng’. He was so sleepy that he couldn’t open his eyes. He asked with some uncertainty, “…Is Zhongyan in bed?”
“…” Moschery glanced at the innocent-looking black dragon lying at the end of the bed, “It’s here.”
“No wonder…” Qin Yun muttered, “I was wondering if you should lose weight.”
Moschery: “…”
