The Legendary Master’s Wife - Chap 8
Chapter 8: Percentage
Splash!
A human figure dropped from the sky splashing right into jade green waves. The bone chilling ice-cold water covered the top of his head in an instant. You XiaoMo was freaked out, scared out of his wits . He flailed around in the water, thinking he had fallen into the sea.
The problem was, he couldn’t swim!!
You XiaoMo thought in despair, don’t tell me I’m going to drown right now just after crossing over here?
He couldn’t help but mourn his fate about dying prematurely. Thinking this way, You XiaoMo gave up and stopped struggling. Since he was bound to die sooner or later, he might as well just die already. He only hoped that he wouldn’t die early in his next life. Relaxing his whole body, You XiaoMo slowly waited for the moment when he sank to his death under the water.
Maybe because he had completely unburdened himself, he started to feel something was not right. Flipping open his eyes, he was stunned to find that the water was only waist deep. -_-||
Only then did You XiaoMo realize that he was no longer in his room. He found himself in unfamiliar surroundings, standing in a lake. The lake took up a fifth of the area. It was a peculiar space. White clouds and blue skies above, a clear day but with no sun in sight. After careful examination, he found out that everything was static. The white clouds showed no signs of movement. There was no sound of wind in the air. The fresh green grass bowed to the ground but remained motionless. Even the lake below him lacked the slightest ripple.
You XiaoMo looked down at the blue teardrop lying quietly on his chest. Could it be that he was here now because he accidentally touched it? With that in mind, he couldn’t help stretch ing out his hand and touch it again. Unexpectedly everything turned black in front of his eyes.
Splash!
He found himself back in the tub of hot water. His body that had been completely submerged in the ice-cold lake water slowly started to warm up.
You XiaoMo stared at the blue teardrop on his chest. After hesitating for quite a while, he finally decided to leave it alone. He hastily finished his bath and climbed out of the tub and put on his clothes. It could have been his imagination , but he felt more invigorated than he was before.
In order to discard the bath water, You XiaoMo again made several trips. At this time the sky started to darken. There didn’t seem to be anyone up and about, only the occasional disciples on patrol. Because it was his first day here, being in unfamiliar surroundings, You XiaoMo didn’t dare to run about wildly. After finishing discarding the bath water, You XiaoMo returned to his room. He lit a candle, lighting up the room , and then grabbed the book on his desk and continued his reading.
Speaking about mages, even though there were three big peaks in the Tian Xin Sect, the reality was, very few people could become mages. It was not a question of the lack of effort, but rather the lack of natural talent.
In order to determine if someone could become a mage, the most straightforward method was to look at his soul. Only souls with colored auras could become mages. The practitioners , on the other hand, all had colorless transparent souls. Long Xiang Continent had thousands upon tens of thousands of people ; however colored auras appeared in only one percent of the people. That was to say, only one in a hundred could become a mage .
Furthermore, these may not necessarily be high level mages, most likely ending up as low level mages. Clearly, mages were a rarity in the Long Xiang Continent. Since surveying a person’s soul was now widely used to identify potential mages, most major sects carried a soul detection crystal, which was the size of a small bowl. It was only because of this that You XiaoMo was able to avoid a disaster.
After successfully entering the Tian Xin Sect as a probationary disciple, he no longer had to get his soul appraised. However, where he went from there, still depended on his own efforts.
